I think the best thing about becoming a mom was being introduced to wet wipes! Wet wipes come in handy for far more than just a diaper change. We use our homemade wet wipes for EVERYTHING! I clean their hands and face after dinner, wipe hands after craft time, keep them in the car for quick cleanups after the park or ice cream. Pretty much anything kid related I use wet wipes. The only problem is they are kind of expensive and since both of my boys are potty trained the hubby said I needed to stop buying them. That was a sad day……
UNTIL I did a little search and found out I could make my own at home very cheaply! Finding a recipe to make them myself made me happy and made me feel a little dumb for not thinking of it sooner! Below is the recipe I use for my homemade wet wipes. As always feel free to change it up to fit what you have on hand or what you prefer! You can make them in just a few minutes and they clean very well. Enjoy!
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons baby oil
- 2 tablespoons baby bath soap
- 1/2 roll strong, soft paper towels. The select-a-size kind works best for me.
- 1 empty wet wipes container that you have saved (I used the box but the round ones work too)
First pull the paper towels off in the smallest size and stack in an old baby wipes container or similar container (A large Ziploc bag will do if you don’t have a container!)
Now mix the water, baby oil and baby bath soap together. Pour over the paper towels.
Then let it sit for a few minutes and voila! you have wet wipes! I keep these o my craft table and in my car for those messes that need cleaning quickly!
